Kazbegi – Stepantsminda, commonly known as Kazbegi, is a small town in the north-east Georgia. It is well known and considered to be one of the must see destinations in Georgia due to amazing views of mountains and stunning nature. Kazbegi Mountain (or Mkinvartsveri) is the third highest mountain in Georgia, and is surrounded by myths and religious tradition. Kazbegi is a great place for ice climbing and mountaineering. Gergeti Trinity Church in kazbegi was built in 14th century. It is located on 2200 meters above sea level. The church is a popular way point for trekkers in the area, and can be reached by a steep 3 hour climb up the mountain, or around 30 minutes by jeep up a rough mountain trail.
